We live right around the corner from Paramount Studios. For the last six or so weeks, the writers have been picketing the front. The first week, the writers were out in force from 9am to 4pm until, I think, someone told them they should probably be out when the rest of the world is actually commuting back and forth. Since then, the writers have been out at 6am.

Okay, not really, but the hills behind Los Angeles were on this day. Some bored kids were playing with matches in Burbank and, ooops, started a big fire. Luckily, no people were injured or property destroyed. We were driving up Vine near our house. The air smelled like a fireplace and tasted like an ashtray. On the right is the famous Capitol Records building. I believe they are going to convert it to condos.
